The Wordsworth Walks Team

Wordsworth Walks are led by a team who combine expertise in literature, personal and professional development and training, and outdoor pursuits. The team have all been involved in Wordsworth Walks since its inception in 2007.

The team are -

Simon Bainbridge. Simon is Professor of English Literature at Lancaster University where he also co-directs the Wordsworth Centre. He has published three books and several articles on the writing of the Romantic period, with a particular emphasis on William Wordsworth. He is a past president of the British Association for Romantic Studies. He has lectured around the world and has recently given lectures including Australia, India, Switzerland and Sweden. He is a keen hill walker and scrambler and is currently writing a book on the relationship between mountaineering and Romanticism.

Mike Palk. Mike is a keen walker and climber, passionate about the outdoors and adventure. He has been involved in team and personal development for over twenty years now and believes the outdoor environment is one of the best for getting in touch with yourself and exploring new horizons. Mike has worked with a wide range of organisations over the years, including Lnacaster University Management School, Leeds Business School, Department for International Development, Royal Bank of Scotland, DB Apparel and many more. Mike is an nlp practitioner, has a coaching diploma, is qualified to take groups climbing & abseiling and is a first aider.

Jenny Pullen.  Jenny trained as a teacher in Outdoor Studies in Ambleside and has enjoyed living in Cumbria since then.  Personally and professionally, the outdoors plays in important part of her life, providing a powerful environment for learning, challenge and development.  Jenny enjoys being in the fells, either walking or with running shoes on and usually has a long distance run in the pipeline. Jenny works with a wide range of organisations which includes Lancaster University Management School, University of Cumbria, Leeds Business School and Cumbria County Council and corporate clients such as Nestle, RBS, Jaguar Land Rover and UEFA. Jenny is a trained teacher, holds counselling qualifications and is qualified to take groups walking.  She also holds a current first aid certificate.

Alyn Griffiths. Alyn, who leads the canoeing session, is a very experienced canoeist, He holds a British Canoe Union Coach Certificate, one of the highest canoe instructor awards in the UK.
